PACCAR reports a positive year – new products and a strong after-sales market generate higher profits

2014-02-04

On Friday PACCAR reported record annual sales of USD 17.12 billion and a net profit of USD 1.17 billion for 2013.

‘PACCAR achieved the third highest annual net profit in the company’s history,’ said Mark Pigott, chairman and CEO of US-based PACCAR, DAF’s parent company. ‘PACCAR’s financial results reflect the company’s high standard of products and services. I’m very proud of our 22,000 employees, who have delivered outstanding results for our shareholders and customers.’

Thanks to the company’s high level of sales in 2013, PACCAR has been able to invest in all areas of the business. In 2013 PACCAR launched a new range of trucks – the Kenworth T880, the Peterbilt 567 and DAF CF and LF Euro 6. PACCAR expanded its range of engines, focusing in particular on the development of the PACCAR MX-13 engine and the introduction of the PACCAR MX-11 engine. PACCAR Parts also broadened its global network of distribution centres, which resulted in record sales of spare parts.

In the fourth quarter of 2013, DAF started producing trucks in Brazil. DAF plan to gradually increase truck production in 2014 and have a long-term target of a 20% market share. The independent DAF reseller and service network consisted of 20 regions in Brazil in 2013 and this will expand to 40 regions in 2014.
